Drones ingezet bij zoektocht naar lichaam van Mathijs
Scheveningen – De luchtvaartpolitie en SAR Nederland hebben donderdagochtend met drones gezocht naar het lichaam van Mathijs.
Diverse drones van de politie en van de vrijwilligersorganisatie SAR Nederland waren donderdagochtend in Scheveningen op zoek naar het lichaam van de vijfde vermiste watersporter.
Mathijs kwam om het leven bij het surfersdrama. Zijn lichaam werd in het water gezien maar dreef weg tijdens een bergingspoging.
Vrijwilligers van SAR Nederland hebben op Hemelvaartsdag uren gereden om de zoekactie te kunnen faciliteren.
rond het middag uur is de zoektocht gestaakt helaas geen resultaat.
De zoektocht naar de vermiste surfer, de 23-jarige Mathijs uit Delft, zal vrijdag weer door gaan. Er wordt dan met sonarboten en paraflyers gezocht op het water. ‘Als er vandaag niets uitkomt, gaan we zondag of maandag nog een grotere inzet plannen met verschillende teams’, zegt een woordvoerder van SAR Nederland, een organisatie gespecialiseerd in het opsporen van vermiste personen.
De opsporingsorganisatie vaart met twee boten van PSD Nederland, een duikteam dat zich voornamelijk bezighoudt met vermissingen, uit op zee bij Scheveningen. De zogeheten RIB’s (stevige opblaasbare boten) met sonar kunnen een beeld krijgen van wat er onder water drijft. ‘Dat is onmisbaar bij dit soort zoektochten.’
SAR Nederland zet ook paraflyers in. ‘Die hebben een motor en kunnen zo’n drie uur in de lucht hangen. Daarmee kunnen ze een groot gebied van boven bekijken.’
